University extension

Outreach

Mathematical foundations for computing, community projects and health education.

Six editions of Princípios Matemáticos para Computação coordinated by Pedro M. M. de Castro: 2024.1, 2024.2, 2025.1, 2025.2, 2026.1 and 2026.2.

Princípios Matemáticos para Computação

A computing degree quickly asks students to move between equations, geometric pictures and discrete structures. Princípios Matemáticos para Computação helps students strengthen that foundation before the semester begins, revisiting sets, functions, trigonometry, exponentials, logarithms, divisibility and combinatorics.

I have coordinated six editions of this UFPE extension course, from 2024.1 through 2026.2. The most recent edition, coordinated with Caio Bezerra Souto Maior and supported by student tutors, combined 20 hours of live online classes with 20 hours of complementary activities, from 3 to 7 August 2026.

Community and health education

During my medical degree at UFPE, I also participated in extension projects in health and medical education:

Prevenção da Cegueira, 2019–2020. Student participation in two editions of the extension project, in April–September 2019 and December 2019–May 2020.

Brincando com ARTE, 2018. Student volunteer in a project using art, storytelling and music in the pediatric setting at Hospital das Clínicas. About the project.

Liga Acadêmica de Patologia, 2017–2018. Member of the UFPE academic pathology league, with 230 hours of registered extension activities.

Related publications and medical training are presented in Medicine and Psychiatry.
