Two members of Voxar Labs, João Paulo Silva do Monte Lima and Francisco Paulo Magalhães Simões, are spending five weeks on a research mission at INRIA Rennes, as part of an international cooperation project between the French institute, the Informatics Center of Federal University of Pernambuco, represented by the Voxar Labs, and the University of Chile. This cooperation project aims to promote interchanges of researchers to conduct a collaborative study on monocular real-time 3D object tracking targeting augmented reality and visual servoing applications. At INRIA, the Voxar Labs' PhD students will be supervised by Éric Marchand, the institution leader researcher, and the activities during this mission will have a strong relationship with their respective PhD researches. Concerning their studies, João Paulo is more focused on contour-based real-time tracking by detection of texture-less objects while Francisco is more focused on edge and point-based real-time tracking with a particle filter approach.
