de reuso do material educacional existente; e a criação de
comunidades de conhecimento. |

- Virtual University Trial at the Dearne Valley College |
| The more immediate aim of
the project is to examine ways in which telematics can be used to support
the cost-effective provision of quality education and training in the 'distributed'
community. The efforts during the trial will be centred on the concept
of the 'virtual university' - aiming to support on-line all aspects of
the traditional campus-based delivery, such as student recruitment and
registration, the provision of course materials, tutorial support, discussion
groups, library, careers advice, as well as all aspects of college management,
including staff related matters, financial transactions and so on. The
trial will also address issues such as scalability of the virtual campus
and the 'per user per month' cost of telematic provision, with a view to
rolling out a self-sustaining service by the end of trial. The key technologies
to be considered include groupware and workflow (e.g. MS Exchange, Lotus
Notes or Oracle Office), telepresence and Wide-Area Network (including
the Internet) access. The trial will involve several user groups, including
students, staff, curriculum developers and external evaluators - with all
interactions taking place within the electronic medium. Students will be
able to move easily between areas of education traditionally offered by
different institutions. The longer term aim of the project is to identify
a flexible future-proof solution for the full implementation of a paperless
university capable of supporting the global provision of education and
training. |

criacao de conteudo, registro de usuarios, armazenamento do material de
um determinado curso, repositorio hipermidia. |
