About

I'm a professor working in the Centro de Informatica at the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco. I finished my Ph.D. NYU-Polytechnic School of Engineering under the supervision of Claudio Silva. My thesis on visual analytics techniques for exploration of spatiotemporal data can be found here. I also spent 9 months as a Postdoctoral scholar with the HDC Group at the University of Arizona. My research focuses on information visualization and visual analytics. I'm also very interested on machine learning and applied mathematics.

Personal

I'm from Recife a beautiful city that is the capital of the state of Pernambuco in Brazil. There I did my high school studies at Centro Federal de Educacao Tecnologica de Pernambuco (now known as Instituto Federal de Pernambuco). During this period I used to participate in mathematics and physics competitions.

I got a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and a Master's degree in Mathematics both from Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil).

I got a PhD degree in Computer Science from NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering. From September of 2015 to June 2016, I was a Postdoctoral Scholar working in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Arizona.

Research Interests

My research focuses on information visualization and visual analytics. I'm also very interested on machine learning and applied mathematics. Check out my Google Scholar profile.
