Workflow Detail: Explore Process Automation
The purpose of this workflow detail is to:
- Explore what portions of the business processes can and should be automated.
- Understand how any existing systems, often referred to as legacy systems, fit into the
organization.
- Derive system requirements.
A person acting as a business designer needs to be skilled in expressing himself or
herself in writing. Although knowledge of the business domain is good, it can be covered
off by involving domain experts as reviewers. To conduct the
tasks of this workflow detail, you also need people who are familiar with the
current set of systems used in the organization, and also people knowledgeable
about implications of any new technology being considered.
The work centers around the business use-case realizations. Discuss
automation by moving tasks between business workers; some automated, some
not.
