Fernando Castor Filho
Hi! I am an assistant professor at the Informatics Center (CIn), Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE). Prior to this, I held positions as assistant professor at the Department of Computing and Systems (DSC) of the University of Pernambuco (UPE), and postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Computer Science (DCC-IME) of the University of Sao Paulo (USP). I got my PhD in computer science from the Institute of Computing (IC), State Universty of Campinas (UNICAMP), under Prof. Cecilia Rubira, and my bachelor's degree from CIn-UFPE, working under Prof. Paulo Borba. All of these institutions are located in Brazil. You can find my CV here (in portuguese).
Research Interests
My research interests are all related to the construction of large and complex software systems, usually ones with strict dependability requirements. My main research areas are software engineering, fault tolerance, and distributed systems. More specifically, I am currently interested in techniques and mechanisms to support the construction of fault-tolerant and very scalable distributed systems. Furthermore, I've been trying to understand the interplay between aspect-oriented programming and exception handling, and how they can be combined to produce better software systems.
