The Third South American Workshop on String Processing (WSP'96)
will take place in Recife, Brazil, as part of a bigger event: the XVI Conference of the Brazilian Computer Science Society. The First and Second Workshops
were held in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in September 1993, and in
Valparaíso, Chile, in April 1995, respectively.
WSP'96 is being sponsored by the following organizations:

WSP'96 is intended to provide a forum for discussion among researchers interested in all aspects of string processing.
The Proceedings of WSP'96 will be published by Carleton U. Press, Ottawa.
People willing to be included in a mailing list to receive information about the event, please send e-mail to

The technical program will be comprised of
20 selected papers and 5 invited talks:
